Okay, this resolved the fortran read problem, but now I am a bit confused about the files that VLOG produced.

I understood from the HELP file that it should create files with four different extensions: .TSYS, .FLAG, .WX, and .PCAL.

The .WX and .PCAL files look right, but I do not get a .FLAG file. Instead, the flags have been inserted into the .TSYS file, but commented out, e.g.,

The .TSYS file also contains lines like the following:

which then seem to cause ANTAB to die:
