i started up AIPS on my laptop, callisto, to get an AIPS TV.
i then slogin'ed to moons, my desktop, because that's where the data is.
when i started up AIPS, i got:
START_AIPS: I am GUESSING you are at a workstation called 3(NXDOMAIN)
TVDEVS.SH: Remote TV assigned for TVHOST 3(NXDOMAIN) ***
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 405: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 405: `TVDEV4Q=sssin:3(NXDOMAIN)'
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: line 405: warning: syntax errors in . or eval will cause future versions of the shell to abort as Posix requires
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 413: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 413: `TKDEV4Q=3(NXDOMAIN)'
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: line 413: warning: syntax errors in . or eval will cause future versions of the shell to abort as Posix requires
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 416: syntax error near unexpected token `('
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: eval: line 416: `TTDEV4Q=3(NXDOMAIN)'
/home/AIPS/TVDEVS.SH: line 416: warning: syntax errors in . or eval will cause future versions of the shell to abort as Posix requires
START_AIPS: Checking if 3(NXDOMAIN) is reachable via ssh...
START_AIPS: Cannot start remote TV servers on 3(NXDOMAIN), sorry!
START_AIPS: remote command gave this error:
ssh: Could not resolve hostname 3(NXDOMAIN): Name or service not known
START_AIPS: check your secure shell setup, in particular
START_AIPS: whether you have a passphrase enabled. You may
START_AIPS: wish to try 'ssh -v 3(NXDOMAIN) pwd' to see
START_AIPS: what the problem is.
START_AIPS: Starting TPMON daemons on MOONS asynchronously...
so it seems to not understand my connection from moons back to callisto, so it can't connect to the local TV.
i'll run AIPS with tv=local so it starts up its own TV, but i thought you should know about this failure mode of the startup script (if there is a '(' in what it thinks is the name of the remote machine).
