Thanks for looking into this for me.  I'll do some poking around tomorrow to see why UVGET is rejecting the data.  I'll also try SCMAP on a sample data set I have from a tutorial to see if I get the same problem.

I agree that CALIB/IMAGR are preferable but I have so many targets that need to be self-cal'ed that it isn't practical to do them all by hand.  I was hoping to use SCMAP as a way to automate the process.  I know there are other AIPS tasks and software outside of AIPS that can be used to automate self-cal as well.  Are there any of those that you've used / would recommend?  All of my objects are ~ point sources and I'm only interested in accurately determining their centers so I don't need anything fancy.
