Try looking at the data for your calibration source.
For example, try POSSM on a scan-by-scan basis.
Are the phases coherent or do they scatter over
-180 to 180? Sometimes calibration sources that should
be just adequate in flux get weaker with time and are no
longer useable. Other times, RFI or other sorts of bad data
make individual scans unusable until they are extensively
edited.

Try reading Appendix E of the CookBook. It contains lots
of EVLA useful information.
