questions about DOSCALE, SPECINDX in BPASS

I have an observation where I had to use a non-standard source as BP calibrator.
I'm not convinced that I really understand what BPASS is doing with various
combinations of DOSCALE and SPECINDX.
As I interpret the HELP file, DOSCALE in BPASS should indicate the following:
DOSCALE= -1 ==> ignore spectral index
DOSCALE= 0 or 1 ==> take known value for know source; fit unknown sources from SU table
DOSCALE=2 ==> fit unknown sources, including curvature term (also fit if known source?)
I did several tests for a data set with 3C48 as the BP calibrator, all with BPASSPRM(10)=0
to suppress normalization, and I'm confused by the results. They are attached as an ascii table.
Let me know if the table results are unclear.
Thanks,
Lynn
