You must come in from a Linux (or Mac OS/X) machine if you
wish to run the AIPS TV remotely and it helps to have AIPS
installed on that machine also.  Otherwise, you cannot get 
remote displays - we have zero support for Microsoft
Windows.

To avoid some of the issues you are seeing, type
   aips notv
and then let me know if anything works better.
