I have done the minimum needed to have an aips on
vlite-nrl.  There is a data area on /data/AIPS/VLITE-NRL_1/
but I did not have privilege to set up one on /home/vlite-nrl/.
The DADEVS.LIST file is in the control area called 
/home/AIPS/DA00/VLITE-NRL which contain the various 
essential control files for aips.  You do not need to do anything
special to get this one data area.  If you want the other file system
included too, then you need to (1) make a directory called
/home/vlite-nrl/AIPS/VLITE-NRL_2/  (2) chgrp aipsuser VLITE-NRL_2
(3) chmod g+ws VLITE-NRL_2 (4) touch a file called SPACE
in that directory and make its group aipsuser and chmod g+w
(5) edit the DADEVS.LIST file to add the new directory
