The new XGAUS is what you want - it will in the end
make images of Gaussian parameters (peak, center velocity,
width, integrated flux, and their error bars) while showing
you your data in detail, allowing multiple components when
appropriate, etc.  The plotting of these images can also be done in 
AIPS or the FITS files can be carried elsewhere.  GIPSY had an
XGAUS equivalent which people liked better than the old
version of XGAUS - but I suspect the new XGAUS is rather
better now.  XGAUS is really oriented to make images of
these things rather than tables.  It can also write out the
residual cube.
