INDXR itself was last changed in May 2013.  A fix for issues in the MC 
and IM tables was made in March of this year which could affect INDXR.
That was issued as a patch to 31DEC13 but I do not know if you have
applied the patches or even if your 31DEC13 was current at the end of 
2013.  Furthermore, aborts on Macs but not Linux may be due to compiler
differences.  I do not have appropriate data to test this.  Is it
possible to make a modest-size version of your data available for me to 
test that would exhibit this problem?
