The error message has nothing to do with the contents of the file.
Instead the file itself has an improper length.  That impropriety
could be due to a failure in exportuvfits (premature termination),
an error in that program deliberately writing a wrong length, or
perhaps the copy of the file from one place to another did not
work properly.  If that copy was done in ftp, then one has to be
careful to do it in "binary" mode.  Otherwise some ftp implementations
add carriage-return/linefeed characters!  Look at the file that you are
trying to read with "ls -l" and see if the length is N * 2880 bytes where
N is an integer.  The error message says that the length is M*2880 + 320.
