New Ticket: INDXR and VLA gaincurves: discrepancy between 31DEC11 & 31DEC12
The CL-table gains calculated by INDXR are significantly different depending on whether one uses the 31DEC11 or the 31DEC12 versions (binary distrib). They are using the same version of /home/AIPS/TEXT/IONS/VLA.GAINS so its not the text file. In particular, the 31DEC12 version produces gains that are 5% higher for some antennas (e.g., ant 3,12,15) for my X-band data set (2012Aug01)
I would have thought the X-band gain curve was pretty flat (this is at elev=40degs), so I would guess that the 31DEC11 gain values are more reasonable (ie. +-1% or so). Since both versions of INDXR are working from the same VLA.GAINS file, it seems likely some error in the calculation rather than in the gain coefficients.
E.g. here are LISTR,OPTY=GAIN; INEXT=CL; DPARM=0 outputs :
