I was using aipsmgr. As myself it does work - I ran aips and saw the
following:

DISKU1: multivac15 31DEC12 TST: Cpu= 2.8 Real= 15
account bchen owns both CA catalog files but tbastian owns some of the
user 607 UV files and all have group privilege okay for anyone in the
aipsuser group.
What is the actual problem?
BTW I logged in as user 1 so there should not now be a complaint about
the user 1 message file.
