Eric,
I have not found anything in aips that does similar to csmooth in
CIAO. Basically, this program  goes through the map and adds enough
pixels to get a decent signal to noise and then  convolved it.
It is really not quantitative since the convolution depends
on regions with different signal-to-noise values. Just curious if there is 
anything similar to
this program.
