New Staff Reply: reading aips written exabytes without aips

The best thing to do is to copy the data files on the
tape to disk and then ftp them to your aips machine.
FITLD may then be used to load them.

The dd command may be used to copy the data from tape to
disk - see "info dd" for instructions.
