New Ticket: FRING window limits

Hi AIPer's,

I am trying to FRING a dataset from the new wideband VLBA system (8IFs x 32 MHz, dual pol). There can be a large delay because the source may be anywhere in the primary beam, so I correlated with 2048 channels/IF (the max that would fit). The data consists of a single integration. However, when I try and run fring with the delay window (dparm(2)) set to 0, it chokes with:

FRNALL: MEMORY TOO SMALL FOR SPECIFIED FFT SEARCH

It suggests reducing delay window (not an option), rate window (I already set it to 0.001, and set dparm(9) to 1 so hopefully it is not even trying this) or the solint (again, I reduced it down to the integration time) but with no luck. Actually, I then tried reducing the delay window and found that even reducing that to 100 ns didn't help, so I think there are just too many channels for some hardcoded value somewhere in FRING.

Is there any possibility of getting this restriction limited? The idea is, we are trying to get delays to solve for the source location of an unknown transient within the primary beam, so averaging down in channels is not an option - the large delay window is necessary.

Cheers,
Adam
