New Staff Reply: opacity & antenna gain curve application in INDXR
There is an appendix to the CookBook labeled E to describe
the data reduction changes for the EVLA. The first is that
FILLM is no longer relevant. The data set that you have was
written by CASA in a UVFITS format. You use UVLOD or FITLD
to read it into AIPS. At that point there should be neither
a CL or an NX table. There should be a WX (weather) table.
You should then be able to run INDXR.
However, not in 31DEC08. The EVLA came into being in January 2010
and so only 31DEC10 and 31DEC11 fully respond to its needs. You
MUST NOT BE root to install AIPS. It can be done I would assume
with no special privileges at all except for setting up the system
services etc. These have not changed since 31DEC08 and so you would
not need help from anyone with root privilege since they are already
in place.
Go to www.aips.nrao.edu and follow links to guidance on the new
CookBook chapter and on how to install a binary version of 31DEC11
(I would recommend).
