Frankly I am baffled also.  Note that all AIPS adverbs are stored in
floating point and most tasks are smart enough to account for the fact
that floating point is never exact (except at 0).  So this should not
cause problems.  Nonetheless, I have never seen it do this so
systematically.  Did you compile the software at your site or take the
binary distribution?  If the former, what compiler did you use?
