New Client Reply: TV startup problem on Mac/Intel

Thanks, Eric:  the few times I got the TV to work served to confuse the issue. It turns out that the TV worked fine on my laptop screen, but was failing when I plugged the laptop into my large screen / kbd / mouse at work. The solution was to increase the maximum shared memory by creating an /etc/sysctl.conf file, as you suggested and as specified in the faq.

An interesting failure mode - I bet it becomes more common!
