The real problem with statis load modules is that they are significantly 
larger.  People who have not upgraded their OS any time recently are 
also likely to be people with slower Internet connections so the larger 
size will matter.  Note - many sites have gone to using the 64-bit 
version but I think that requires RH 5 to support 64 bit execution as 
well as the aips distribution.  We are thinking about it...
