[daip] Averaging pairs of IFs in AIPS

Hello,
I'm currently reducing 15 GHz VLBA data which has 4 IFs, organized in
two pairs (adjacent IFs) with 438 MHz of separation between the
pairs. We'd like to average up the adjacent pairs to reduce the
baseline noise, since we have low S/N for many of our observed
sources, so that we are left with two IFs separated by 438 MHz. We
have not been able to find a way to do this directly (such as using
AVSPC which seems like it should do this), instead we've been left
with cumbersomely splitting out two files for each source, averaging
the appropriate pair in each single-source file, then using DBCON to
join them together as different arrays. The largest problem we have
with this method is that the any editing after this point won't
automatically span the IFs.
Please let me know if we are missing a way to average subsets of the
IFs.
Thanks,
-Steve Tremblay-
