[daip] Converting FITS images to 8-bits

Hi,

  I was wondering if there is an AIPS routine that will convert 16-bit  
image files to 8 bit FITS files. I am trying to read the 16-bit FITS 
files into Adobe Photoshop as RAW images, but it can't seem to do it. 
In the AIPS routine FITTP, there is an option to convert maps to 16 or 
32-bit FITS files, but not 8-bits.
