My bet is that her computer is not running the necessary network file
locking daemons.  Exactly what they are at this point I do not know -
your machine is running them - at least for local locking - but hers
seems not to be running them.  There are inetd nfsd lockd at least
which are running on my machine.  Are her file systems "exported" for
the world to see?
