In addition to the remarks made previously:

The CC files assume that the components are on cells - at least for some 
purposes.  If one added components from another facet, they would be on 
cells in that facet but not exactly on cells in the first facet.  The 
full non-linear geometry is taken into account in restoring components 
from one facet to the image of another.
