[daip] AIPS (Classic) Refuses to start on my laptop.

Hi,

I just finished installing AIPS on a desktop and a laptop (Debian and 
Ubuntu respectively).

I have AIPS up and running on the desktop. However, in the laptop, even 
after trying several tricks, I keep on getting the following error and 
AIPS refuses to start:

You may have noticed that I started aips using

  START_AIPS tv=sigyn:sigyn

If I don't, and instead us only "START_AIPS" I get

And basically I don't get the TV and the message server.

I emphasize I followed *exactly* the same procedure in both machines.
I'd very much appreciate if you can give me any hint to solve this 
problem.
