If you want me to help, you need to tell me what you have tried and
what went wrong.

To install aips, begin in the account which is to control aips - not
root.  cd to the directory which is to be the root for aips and ftp
from our site the file install.pl.  Then do a binary installation:

          perl install.pl -n

answer the questions and it will install itself.
