I think your problems are indeed a byte swap issue.  You cannot just copy PPC 
files over to MAC OSX.

Eric's mistique program that will reformat your data is called REBYTE.  However 
it is not garanteed to do things perfectly so if you could just copy your files 
back and use the proceedures in WRTPROCS to write them out and read them back in 
that is prefered.  Do a HELP REBYTE to see how to run REBYTE.

To get aips to run at all, I think, you need to move all the files you copied 
from your PPC to another directory.  You may also need to RUN RECAT to recreate 
your catalog.
