Hi,
I have a VLA dataset taken in November 2006 (Program AK461). I have
installed AIPS (Linux - Fedora 2) successfully, and loaded the first
dataset of this program. It is a 12 hour extragalactic HI observation of
a galaxy. I have successfully loaded the data using the task FILLM, and
can start a preliminary edit using the task EDITA. However, I am unable
to use the tasks UVPLT or TVFLG, and I get the 'UNNATURAL causes' error.
It does not appear to be a TV problem, as I can use EDITA just fine. I
have the .CH0 and .LINE entries shown when I use the task 'UCAT'. I get
the output I expect from tasks LISTR and PRTAN.
Here are the commands I employ, starting from the UNIX prompt:
% setenv DATA 'directory-to-mydata'
% source LOGIN.CSH
% aips tv=local
> task 'FILLM'
> INFILE 'DATA:AK641_'
> go
> task 'LISTR'
> optype 'SCAN'
> DOCRT -1
> OUTPRINT 'file-for-scan-summaries'
> go
> task 'PRTAN'
> OUTPRINT 'file-for-ant-config'
> go
> OUTPRINT ''
Then, referering to Section 6.3.1 in the cookbook, and using the
suggestion in Appendix B, I continue with:
> task 'UVPLT'; inp
> indi 1; getn 1
> bparm=6,7,2,0
> sources ''; calcode '*'
> xinc 4
> antenna 0; baseline 0
> docrt=-1
> dotv=1
> go
I get the following message:
CABORO> UVPLT1: Task UVPLT (release of 31DEC07) begins
CABORO> UVPLT1: FOUND 0 POINTS: NOT ENOUGH TO SELF-SCALE
CABORO> UVPLT1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
CABORO> UVPLT1: caborojo 31DEC07 TST: Cpu= 0.1 Real= 0
Am I missing something very obvious? It appears to not find any points to
plot, which means I probably have an adverb set wrong. I've gone through
the adverbs, and below shows my task inputs. I realize this is probably a
lot to plot (in theory), but I'm still learning the ins and outs - I want
to make sure the tasks I need are working before I procede too far. Any
help would be greatly appreciated - apologies for the newbie question!
Thanks,
Brian Kent
