What about the input parameter AVOPTION.
Is not it by chance AVOPTION = 'SUBS'?

I do not understand it. Both IFs have the same outputs for all four
tries. Do they?
The output of 3 and four nave to b e identical because the inputs are
identical (The 4 is the three repeated twice)
The identity of 1 and 3 should mean that inputs for IF=1 and IF=2 are
identical

No AVSPC does not ignore the IF part of ICHANSEL.
Instead ICHANSEL(4,1) = 0 means all IFs
