I'm pretty well baffled right now. We will need to try the same on a  
core 2-duo machine at the observatory to see if we can replicate the  
problem.  I'm in Oxford for the next 8 months, so we'll have to have  
someone in Socorro try it out. I know of one machine that's a core-2- 
duo machine and it has a 30" monitor in Socorro, unfortunately the  
owner is out until next week.
