The VLBA de-smearing routine do not handle FQ IDs properly. Since there was none - as you pointed out - the calling routine asked for any FQID (-1) and the routine demanded that the CQ file match it although it said 1. The MNJ tomorrow will fix this. Thanks for all your help, Eric Greisen
