Dear sirs,
I installed the newest aips version on a SuSE linux 9.2 box. It works
fine locally. But now I want to run it from a remote machine (which also
has SuSE linux). The disk, where I installed aips is mounted NFS
readonly from the remote machine.
In the HOSTS.LISTS file of aips the remote machine has this line:
+ AIDA33 LINUX MPIA NONE Put description here
the data disks in DADEVS.LIST:
- /home/aips/DATA/AIDA33_1
- /disk1/aips/DATA/AIDA33_2
- /disk2/aips/DATA/AIDA33_3
NETSP:
/home/aips/DATA/AIDA33_1 365.0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
/disk1/aips/DATA/AIDA33_2 365.0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
/disk2/aips/DATA/AIDA33_3 365.0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
But when I start aips ('STAR_AIPS') the startup hangs:
[......]
AIPS 1: Enter user ID number
?100
AIPS 1: 31DEC05 AIPS:
AIPS 1: Copyright (C) 1995-2005 Associated Universities, Inc.

AIPS 1: for details, type HELP GNUGPL
AIPS 1: This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
AIPS 1: under certain conditions; type EXPLAIN GNUGPL for details.
Here it hangs. No aips prompt will appear.
On the machine where I installed aips it works.
What have I done wrong? Can you help me? Do you need more informatiolns?
With kind regards and thank you for your answer, ulrich hiller
