Dear Hermine,

The DATA/LOCALHOST_1 directory probably contains all the data
on your disk 1 inside AIPS.  All these files are the UV data,
maps and tables in that directory.  There really aren't any
unnecessary files there.  If you did not load your data compressed
you can compress it by running SPLAT (DOUVCOMP=1).

If you have not done so, you can get rid of the tar file of the
original installation.  Also, see http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/aips/aipsmgr/
under "The AIPS distribution if HUGE!  What files...?"; which tells
you what you can get rid of.
