It sounds to me as if you are plotting on the TV and then trying to
capture that to publication.  This is not a good method since the
fonts on the TV are very limited as are the number of pixels.

Instead set DOTV=-1 to make a plot file.  Then use LWPLA to control
the background and line colors and fonts to your heart's content.  The
plot task that can draw contours of 2 spectral channels in different
colors is PCNTR.  See the CookBook chapter 6 last page for an
example.  The POstScript file that makes that plot is included in
COOK6.PS and so is available to you to study its form.

Note that the PostScript used by LWPLA is really quite
straightforward.  There is a help file called POSTSCRIPT with
suggestions.  It would be possible to make two plot files and then use
LWPLA to make two PostScript files and then copy a section of one into
the other.  The critical issue would be forcing the two plots to be
the same ASPMM.  You can recolor things at that stage too.
