The shared memory id failure comes from an inadequate max size for shared memory in certain system files. See http://www.aoc.nrao.edu/aips/Mac.shtml toward the bottom for info on how to fix this. How is Alaska - I had a wonderful 27 day tour up there a couple of years ago. Eric Greisen
