Thank you for your help with this problem - which we hit and did not
solve in MPI Bonn.  I have putbck a version with your change and also
a logic change to use SSH_CONNECTION if SSH_CLIENT is not defined.
Unfortunately, it seems that the user's shell and other things
including system installation and version issues affect whether any of
these are defined.
