I am extremely sorry for the large mail - never dreamt there would be a 
limit like that and presumed that "more details the better".

I understood from your email that I 

1. needed to download all the patches

2. needed to specify OPT="-O2" by editing 
AIPS/31DEC02/LINUX/SYSTEM/FDEFAULT.SH

3. needed to rerun INSTEP2 and INSTEP4

I did these and it went through fine - many thanks indeed!

But when I do RUN SETPAR, I get

The above are the 3 names I specified while running install.pl.
DADEVS.LIST of course has them listed. I created the above subdirectories
by hand, and also did a touch SPACE in each of them with write permission
for owner and group. but it did not help.
