Another thought.  Try looking at DDT.  There we make a series of steps
into separate procedures and then run a RUN file to execute some or
all of them.  DDT is broken into rather small prpocedures since the
available space then was much smaller than it is now - but it is still
good programming practise.  It is hard to blow the 100-value stacks
unless you compound loop upon loop upon loop upon if-then-else etc.
