[daip] curious problem

Eric -
   I am running AIPS (31DEC02) on my dell laptop, linux, and
had a hell of a time (user generic ageing and confusion)
getting the compiles to work;  now i need to do another one
(tvflg appears to be broken and i want to COMLNK again,
and if that doesn't work, recopy the source code and
try again)
   anyway, when I try to COMLNK, it says "no valid TVFLG..."
found, even if I get right down to the directory where it is,
permissions fine, etc. etc.

   I have a high suspicion that i've screwed up something with
the shell.  The default login shell for aips is bash.  What
I do after logging in is
   csh
   source AIPS/LOGIN.CSH
   $CDTST
   COMLNK TVFLG

   somehow, i solved this before, once in initial installation,
and again when i put in my own version of MWFLT.  however,
i'm stuck again and brain cells are failing.  any advice
would be welcome.  thanks.
