Just to put in my two cents, I wrote procedures to write
and read disk FITS files, in order to make this easier.
They are called WRTDISK and READISK.  WRTDISK which will
write out files to disk in a loop based on the catalog
number, and with a standardized name which is meant to be
read by READISK.

They are part of set of procedures called WRTPROCS.  You
must type RUN WRTPROCS before running the procedures.  See
the help files for details.
