[daip] on-line FILLM dies occasionally when first started

Hi Eric,

  I just started on-line FILLM, and got the rather odd result that it died
instantly; but upon re-starting, it seems to work fine.  This has happened
to me a couple times over the past few weeks but this is the first time it
was early enough for me to remember to e-mail you :}

  I append the inputs to FILLM below -- I use identical inputs all the time,
so I doubt I'm doing anything too strange.  I always run on verdi, so it
could be a local problem.
