[daip] problems installing 31dec01 (md5sum)

Hi,

I'm trying to install the 31dec01 version of aips. I'm following the
instructions, but, at the moment to check the md5sum output of my
machine (running linux redhat) I found that md5sum doesn't give any
output (it seems to run, but no output, no end, even if I wait for
many minutes).
The file md5sum exists in the directory /usr/bin.
How do you suggest to proceed?
