   Two thoughts:

1. SMOTH is an awfully nonstandard task but it appears to do a brute
force convolution and to know about blanked pixels.

2. REMAG replaces magic blanks with a user-specified value.  Try to
figure out the average value near the blanked point source and
substitute that for the magic blanks.  Then use CONVL.
