[daip] Bad TY and GC tables ???

I've been struggling with getting the data from BP094 through
APCAL. Using 31DEC02, I first got

mustan> APCAL1: Task APCAL (release of 31DEC01) begins
mustan> APCAL1: GETGC: PARAMETER MAXVAL TOO SMALL: CONTACT AIPS ADMIN
mustan> APCAL1: GCVAL: ERROR 3 LOADING GC TABLE
mustan> APCAL1: AMPCAL: NO GAIN FOR ANT: 1 POL: 1 IF: 1
mustan> APCAL1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
mustan> APCAL1: mustang 31DEC01 TST: Cpu= 0.1 Real= 1

which also results if you try 31DEC01 or 00. MAXVAL is an integer
variable in APCAL and is set to 10. The GC table has at least some
entries in it; I can send sample PRTAB output if desired.

Our AIPS ADMIN, Jody, had no better success than me at getting
anywhere. If you reload a 1999 or earlier APCAL, you get a
variation on the error:

reber.> APBOB1: Task APBOB (release of 31DEC02) begins
reber.> APBOB1: AMPCAL: NO GAIN FOR ANT: 1 POL: 1 IF: 1
reber.> APBOB1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
reber.> APBOB1: reber 31DEC02 TST: Cpu= 0.1 Real= 0

This has me and my newly-arrived student stuck. Is there a
memo, or special way to run FITLD, that I missed ? FITLD
reported unexpected subarraying, but I processed the MULTI.UVDATA
file using VLBASUBS, which seemed to end happily. It still fails
as above.

Ideas ???
