Hi all,

I've tried writing three different exabyte tapes to
two different drives on two different remote
machines (alfirk and megrez, after cleaning the drives and
killing and restarting the TPMONs), and I always
get the same result:

coyote> MSGWRT ERROR 2 AT
OPEN
coyote> TPMON1: Begins on 2002.02.20 15:07:27
coyote> MSGWRT ERROR 2 AT
OPEN
coyote> TPMON2: Begins on 2002.02.20 15:07:27
coyote> FITTP1: Task FITTP (release of 31DEC02) begins
coyote> FITTP1: Writing to tape drive number 5
coyote> FITTP1: Writing at current tape position
coyote> FITTP1: Writing beginning-of-write EOFs
coyote> FITTP1: ZTAPR: REMOTE TAPE SYSTEM RETURNS ERROR CODE 3
coyote> FITTP1: ZTAPR: ERROR WAS ON OP ='BEGW' COUNT= 1 LUN=35
coyote> FITTP1: REMOTE ZTAPE RETURNS ERROR 3
coyote> FITTP1: This usually means PARITY ERROR
coyote> FITTP1: ERROR 3 BEGINNING WRITES WITH EOFS
coyote> FITTP1: Purports to die of UNNATURAL causes
coyote> FITTP1: coyote 31DEC02 TST: Cpu= 0.0 Real= 0

My suspicion is that this parity error is bogus, and that
this is really related to the fact that my black box
got a red-hat upgrade on Monday. Any thoughts?
