hi,
i did an install of the 31dec02 aips software and used the wizard
to install on a red-hat linux system. everything compiled and
linked ok (no errors in the log files). but when i start aips
is get a aips msgserver window popup (displays for a few seconds
then goes away) that says :
MSGserver: could not get msgserv service by name: No such file or directory
MSGserver: Check your /etc/services or NIS/YP map
i get the x-aips tv screen server 98 - INET, but if i try a
tvinit i get:
>tvinit
ZSSSL2 connect (INET): No route to host
AIPS 1: ZSSSLK: ERROR 1 ON LOCK
AIPS 1: ON LOCK ERROR 6 FROM ZSSSLK
AIPS 1: YTVOPN: TV LOCK OPEN ERROR 6
AIPS 1: TV OPEN ERROR 6
i had requested UNIX servers rather than INET in the wizard, but
i'm not sure if that's related or not. here's what my .AIPSRC looks
like:

do i need to add something to the /etc/services file or is something
else wrong ?
and i have another question: are 31dec02 binaries for a sun/sparc/solaris
systems available ?
