That's quite likely, and making sure the entries are there is a good
idea. However there is an alternative:

        aips tv=local

will start up an AIPS session using Unix sockets for the TV server, tek
server, and message server, as well as the (TVSERV) tv lock daemon.

This is serious; without the system parameter (SP) file, AIPS just won't
work. "DA00" translates to $AIPS_ROOT/DA00/$HOST/ and should be a
directory with a bunch of AIPS system files. As Lorant said,

Yes. SYSETUP is what's needed to add another host (though you need to
edit HOSTS.LIST in the $AIPS_ROOT area first, and put a copy of the 30 or
so DA00/* files in a TEMPLATE area; install.pl normally does this for you,
I think).

I'm not in the AIPS group anymore, but I still peek in from time to time,
and this was a fairly straightforward issue. Or at least I hope it is.
