[daip] Tape question

Hi Robert,

As I understand you loaded (succesfully) the image from the fits 
file NICE:A.FITS using IMLOD.

Then you want to record the image to the tape using FITTP and failued 
at this stage.

You got the message:

anya  > FITTP1: ZTPOPN: UNABLE TO TRANSLATE LOGICAL NAME AMT01
anya  > FITTP1: TAPIO: ERROR   1 OPENING FILE

This means OUTFILE is not completely blank. 
If OUTFILE .NE.BLANK then FITTP has nothing to do with tape. 
FITTP tries to record the image to the file (OUTFILE), but the pass to 
the file (AMT01) is not determined outside of AIPS.
 
1.Send me the list of input parameters of FITTP
2.Try FITTP with OUTFILE=''.
3.Check if comand <rewind> works
4.Try task FITAB instead of FITTP

I have installed AIPS (31DEC00 release) on some of our Linux (RH 7.1)
systems, and am having some trouble with the tape drives. DATs can be
mounted/dismounted OK, and accessed on remote machines. But when we try to
read/write, we get errors. I have copied the error log from a write test
below. Is there something simple we're not doing here that might cause this
error?

I imagine you'll need more info on the setup we're using. If you let me know
what you require, I'll do my best to supply it.
