chaps, I've been trying to write some data to tape and FITAB kept hanging up on one particular file. it was a UV file that had no data in it (a result of flagging in SPLIT). FITTP works fine on this file. so I know you will tell me to use FITTP, and I am. but I thought you should know about this feature. claire
