[daip] AIPS task crashes

Hi Pat et al.,

I'm having some trouble running aips tasks on my linux machine
all of a sudden. Tasks like SNEDT, CLCAL, and SNSMO are giving

AIPS 1: TASK HAS NOT BEGUN IN   15.1 SECONDS
AIPS 1: Begin check for any 'standard' scratch files
AIPS 1: Scratch files -- destroyed:    0  still active:    0
AIPS 1: Resumes

and then dumping a core file into my default directory.
Any idea what this might be due to?
