Continuing my previous message. Probably you mean some pixels of one image
are blank.

The COMB COMB permits to add maps and if one is blank
COMB uses values from the other normalizing the coefficients.

You want to exlude the normalization at the case of one map's pixel is blank.
I think it is not good idea.

COMB changes the coefficients (C1, C2) to C1//(C1+C2), C2/(C1+C2)
at the normalization and gives at
the output= C1/(C1+C2)*IN1 +C2/(C1+C2)*IN1= IN1.
This is a right decision! Is not it?

Excluding normalization you get output = (C1+C2)*IN1. Do you want it?

Lincoln,

What do you mean "one is blank". You have only one image at the input or
some pixels of one image are blank.

Thanks

Leonia

PS Have you received my recent messsage about the new XMOM?

{Installment #3 after a long week. I do apologize for cluttering your mail.
COMB does in fact behave the way I feared. For MEAN, the two maps are
multiplied by normalized coefs (aparm(1) & aparm(2)). This normalization
occurs in PCOMBN and is passed back to the program as well as being
written out in a msg. This behavior is understandable given the name of
 the opcode.

I would like to ask that COMB permit me to add maps and if one is blank
use values from the other. This would be the same as using MEAN with
aparm(1) & aparm(2)=1 but with no normalization. Perhaps a new aparm
 will make this possible.

 doubly sorry.
